Family Stitching

Family Stitching is a series of knitted cardigan designs combined with hand embroidery inspired by traditional Ukrainian embroidery.

The Ukrainian tradition of my grandmother’s hand-embroidered floral motifs evokes nostalgia, and is the source of inspiration for the series of garments knitted on an industrial machine. The combination of hand embroidery and a garment knitted on an industrial machine is a connection between traditional handcraft and contemporary digital technology.-- a unique connection that in the action, material, and appearance embodies a new expression of the relationship between past and present.
