Zhuldyz Tazhimbetova

My work involves connecting various knit forms, structures and panels which were created using different knit techniques to build a visual story. Beginning with my childhood memories, it traces the timeline of changes in topography of my home, the “Aral” region, due to ecological catastrophe. 

As a person who has witnessed aftermaths of the climate crisis, being able to work and reflect on it over a time period of two years bore a deep and emotional influence on me and informed my work at different stages.
