Night Flowers

Night Flowers is a mini-collection of double-sided multipurpose interior textiles. My inspiration for this collection comes from decaying tulips and the collection gives a new life to these flowers that are dying. The concept belying the textiles is that they are not trying to copy the flowers, nor the sketches of the flowers--but is, rather, to convey an expression of the emotions that they evoke in me--with materials, colors and floral motifs drawn with structures.

The fabrics are soft and luxurious; the weft material is fine merino wool. The collection consists of four different fabrics: two colorways and two surface patterns.

Matilda Palmu is currently studying textile design MA in Aalto University and woven textiles have become her passion. Storytelling, strong colors and artistic expression are a big part of her work and she wants to design textiles and make textile art that delights and brightens people's lives.
