PLAY!
PLAY! is a collection of playful, textural and interactive fabrics inspired by places that I find fun and interesting--these being Kew Gardens, the Aquarium, God’s Own Junkyard, Victor Wynd’s Museum of Curiosities, Portmeirion in North Wales and Borough Market’s fruit and vegetable stalls. All these places give a sense of escape and take you from the everyday into an unusual, tropical, surreal world. They are fun, colourful, playful and unusual--all details which can be found in my textile pieces.
This collection is intended for lifestyle and interior items and in addition to the home environment PLAY! could potentially have relevance in creating better and more interactive environments for patients with dementia where textured materials have proved beneficial.
